The Sensex and the Nifty were trading down by over 0.4 per cent at the
pre-close session on Tuesday on mild capital outflows from foreign funds
amid weak European cues.
At 3.15 p.m., the 30-share BSE index Sensex was down 94 points or 0.45
per cent at 20,693.30 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was down 28.65
points or 0.46 per cent at 6,162.80.
Among BSE sectoral indices, metal index fell the most by 1.76 per cent,
followed by realty 1.62 per cent, oil & gas 1.43 per cent and IT
1.34 per cent.
On the other hand, capital goods, consumer durables, healthcare and auto
indices remained investors' favourite and were up 0.42 per cent, 0.23
per cent, 0.09 per cent and 0.03 per cent, respectively.
Maruti, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Dr Reddy's were the
top five Sensex gainers, while the top five losers Tata Steel, Tata
Power, SSLT, Hindalco and NTPC.
