       Facebook For Android Updated To Version 1.6

New update brings features like pages support and video uploads.

Facebook is the most widely used social network in the world. This means that all platforms have to take special care of the social networking application to keep the users happy. The Android version of the application has now been updated to version 1.6. This update will bring along some improvements in the news feed, support for Facebook pages, and the ability to add videos to your Facebook profile.

The pages support will bring the ability to browse through pages while within the app, instead of getting redirected to the browser. This comes very handy, and will save a lot of time. Pages on Facebook are an important part for a user and improved support will only make users happy.

The video upload feature will let users upload videos from the device to their profile on-the-go. Facebook users are less inclined towards uploading their own videos onto the site, and are rather more into sharing of videos. This feature may prove instrumental in reversing the trend. The tweaks to the News Feed will include the display of new types of posts such as pages, which when tapped, will open on the application itself like we already mentioned above.

Huawei Unveils MediaPad

                         

                                         Brings Android 3.2 to a 7" tablet

Earlier in the day, Huawei launched its MediaPad at CommunicAsia 2011 in Singapore. The manufacturer is touting it as the world's first 7" Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) tablet. Most tablets with this screen size are currently running onAndroid 2.3 (Gingerbread), as earlier versions were not optimised for 7" screens.

The device is as slim as 10.5 mm, and weighs 390 grammes. A dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm CPU will make sure that everything runs smooth. Other features include HDMI out, 1080p playback, Flash 10.3, 5 megapixel autofocus camera, and a 1.3 megapixel camera for making video calls. The screen will have 1024x600 pixels, with a pixel density of 217 ppi. This is impressive, knowing that the iPad 2 has 132 ppi. The tablet will have over 6 hours of battery life, which is normal for Androids.

Huawei is not known for its tablets, but I do remember it launching the Ideos S7 last year. However, with the MediaPad, it has now thrown a challenge to heavyweights such as Samsung and Motorola.

There is no word on the pricing, but the device is expected to hit the market by September 2011.

Social Addicts Rejoice! HTC ChaCha Facebook Phone Headed For AT&T

Have you ever excused yourself from a real-life interpersonal conversation to play Farmville? Do you update “what’s on your mind” more often than you eat? Do you scour the social network religiously for signs your ex-girlfriend is “in a relationship?” If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s possible that you have a Facebook addiction. Luckily, HTC has created a way to keep you hooked on the ‘book, instead of ween you off of it: the HTC ChaCha, photos of which have surfaced with an AT&T logo emblazoned across the front.

You might remember hearing about the ChaCha back in February, when it was announced alongside the Salsa at MWC. For those who don’t, the perhaps poorly named HTC ChaCha boasts less-than-impressive specs but gets points for originality due to its dedicated Facebook button. Basically, anytime the user taps the Facebook button, the last thing he or she viewed is automatically incorporated into a status update, whether it be a song, a picture, or a link to a web site.

In terms of specs, the Android-powered ChaCha sports a 2.6-inch 480×320 display, runs a 800 MHz processor, and has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. It comes with support for a microSD card, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, and will most likely run on AT&T’s 3G network, if this leaked photo is meant to be any type of indicator.

We’ve yet to receive word from AT&T and HTC about official availability and pricing, with unconfirmed reports suggesting the phone will launch by the end of this quarter. If you’re paying close attention, you’ll notice that the date displayed on the phone in the leaked picture reads July 17, which could also be a clue about the ChaCha’s release.
