:  New Delhi: Peanut, a P2P or 'person-to-person' privacy and security enhanced text messaging application, was today launched in India by Chennai-headquartered Hitah Systems and US-based Loment Inc. It allows exchange of private and encrypted messages between Peanut users. The application includes conveniences such as drafts, templates, back-up, restore, remote wipe-out, restricted messaging, auto-expiration interval, scheduled message delivery, auto response and many other features. Offering all the features in a single, convenient application, Peanut can be a useful application for government, national security, law enforcement, legal, financial, and corporate communications, according to Malladi Satchidananda Murty, chairman of Hitah.
The application works on smartphones as well as feature phones. It can be downloaded directly from Hitah network or through a partner wireless carrier by users of Blackberry, Symbian, Android, or J2ME mobiles.

“Our goal to introduce many more products and services-–Walnut for secure e-mail, Hazelnut for banking, payments and mobile commerce, Pistachio for mobile healthcare--will transform today’s social communications into useful transactions of material and emotional value,” Murty added.

The app, developed by Loment in association with Hitah, was launched in April in the Malaysian market. The company expects to make Peanut available worldwide in the very near future. “Loment plans to launch Peanut one region and country every month, build our marketing and distribution network,” said Dr Venkata Majeti, founder and CEO of Loment.
