Apple Places Order To Pegatron For 15 Million iPhone 5 Units
Ever since iOS 5 was revealed at WWDC 2011 in June, everyone expected that the new iPhone 5 to follow the new operating system version. We’ve seen two beta versions of iOS 5 so far, but no sign of iPhone 5.
There were a lot of rumors around regarding iPhone 5specs and release date, and yesterday we told you thatthe companies supplying parts for Apple are getting ready for iPhone 5 debut in September.
It seems that the rumors were not fiction as today, Digitimes announced Apple have requested Pegatron (their partner) to deliver not less than 15 million iPhone 5units which will be shipped out starting September.
Sources inside Pegatron claim that the new iPhone is like a minor update to iPhone 5, so the new Apple device would probably be an iPhone 4 with some improved specs and no design change. The delivery date for the terminals is in September, when is said that Apple will host a conference where they will present the final version of iOS 5 and the new iPhone smartphone.
The guys at Pegatron are now producing the CDMA version of iPhone 4, but it seems that the next iPhonedevice will be built by Pegatron in both GSM and CDMA versions. Rumor has it that iPhone 4S/5 will come with a dual core A5 processor, just like iPad 2, 3.5-inch display, iOS 5, and a GPU borrowed from iPad 2, 5/8MP camera, which will be able to record full HD videos.
Basically, the new iPhone will be what iPhone 3GS was for iPhone 3G: more power under the hood, but no change of looks.
Anyway it seems like Apple really knows how to keep a secret and make us anxious to see their latest smartphone, so it’s a little bit early to make speculations on how the new iPhone will look or what it will pack under the case. Even so, stay in touch as we will keep you up to date with the latest news about iPhone 5.
