Sony unveils the new A and S series of PMPs.

Remember the Walkman? The compact player that played tapes and CD? Anyone? Blame the memory loss on youriPod. However, the Walkman series is still hanging around, and has just been updated by Sony. Among these, theNWZ-A860 and NWZ-S760 stand out.

The A860, measuring 51.8 mm (l) x 96.9 mm (w) x 9.3 mm (d), sports a 2.8" touchscreen and is capable of playing MP4, AVC, and WMV9 videos. It features Sony's S-Master MX digital amplifier technology, and SensMe, which automatically categorizes your music tracks into different categories. It also supports Bluetooth-enabled earphones and wireless file transfers. Users will be able to load media files using a simple drag-and-drop action on any computer.

The S760 has the same set of features as its A-series cousin, except for a relatively smaller 2" screen. The company claims 50 hours of music playback on a single charge. The device has dimensions of 43.6 mm (l) x 97.5 mm (w) x 7.9 mm (d).

The gadgets are expected to land sometime in August, with no word on pricing yet.
