Google Earnings

Google has just announced the Q2 2011 earnings and we have to say that it’s all good for the search giant. The official numbers say that Google has made about $9.02 billion revenue in the second quarter of 2011 which is 32% more than the same period last year so the company is definitely on the right track.
The company’s CEO, Larry Page, was delighted to announce that this is a new record for Google, and that most of the money came from their websites. Google’s website made more than $6.23 billion in Q2 2011 while in the same period last year, the firm made about $4.5 billion.
Google’s net income has also risen year-over-year up to $2.51 billion compared to about $1.84 billion in Q2 2010. Although Google recorded the biggest revenue in its history, the company has also recorded some of the highest operating expenses which affected the profits. In Q2 2011, the great Goog had a $2.97 billion profit which is bigger than in the second quarter of 2010 when Google posted a $2 billion profit.
Roughly one month ago, Google’s Paul Allen has announced that more than 500,000 Android devices are being activated on a daily basis and that the numbers are rising 4% daily. Well, Larry Page has now confirmed that 550,000 Android devices are activated daily and that the company will reach 600,000 activations in the near future.
The Android Market is also catching up with the iOS App Store and now more than 6 billion downloads have been reported. The Android Market Share in the US is rising rapidly, while in the rest of the world the sales are “good, but not that good.”
Sony Ericsson has also posted its quarterly earnings, but the conglomerate is not doing too well. Actually, Sony Ericsson has revealed a €50 million loss, while in the same time last year, the company recorded a €12 million profit.
Analysts and Sony Ericsson didn’t think that the Q2 2011 shouldn’t have been so bad, but the Japan earthquake and tsunami have had a disastrous impact on the company, too, not only on the country. Sony Ericsson sold about 7.6 million cellphones and smartphones during the quarter and things would have been different if the firm didn’t lose the one-and-a-half million cellphones during the Japan earthquake, one of the biggest natural disasters in history.
Anyway if you bought an Android-powered Sony Ericsson smartphone then you’ve helped both companies so you should be very proud of yourself.
