Windows Phone 7 Gets New Logo From Microsoft To Celebrate Mango Release

Microsoft has just redesigned the Windows Phone logo in order to make it look more like the WP7 Live Tiles, and not like the Windows 7 Aero-based logo. A lot of confusion will be avoided now, though most people wouldn’t even care if the Windows Phone logo would change on a daily basis.

The reason behind the new logo is simple to understand: the old logo simply didn’t fit with the Windows Phone 7 theme any longer so a new one was required. The most popular version of the new WP7 logo is the red-square one as Microsoft wants to focus on the I Love Windows Phone motto which is a pretty cool idea.

The Redmond-based company must have some bigger plans for the new Windows Phone  7 logo as the first Mango devices are just starting showing up. The Fujitsu Toshiba IS12T is the first official WP7 Mango smartphone, while the Nokia Sea Ray is the first unofficially leaked handset that will be powered by Microsoft’s new operating system.
As an current Windows Phone 7 user I have to admit that I don’t really care about the new logoalthough it does look nicer than the old one. It’s kinda minimalistic and everybody, including me, seems to appreciate this trend therefore the new logo will draw more attention to non-WP7 users who are looking to purchase a new phone.
It’s very unlikely that Windows Phone 7 will overcome Android in sales and popularity in the near future as Google’s OS has a really nice mascot, too, unlike iOS, WP7, and others.

A public figure really matters on the market as when you say Android, you think about that droid mascot, when you say iOS, you think about Steve Jobs, but when you say Windows Phone 7, you can’t think about anything as you cannot associate the name with a cool logo, figure, etc.
Check out the new Windows Phone 7 logos and let me know what do you think about them!
