Earlier this week, we heard that a fix was coming shortly to address a long-standing bug with the Nexus S, causing its voice search to get stuck "on" unexpectedly or activate without user interaction. Now, not only is that bugfix upon us, but it brings the operating system up to its next decimal revision, as Android 2.3.6.
The update is just starting to go out, and it could be a little time before all users see it. Comments in Google's support thread reveal that some Nexus S owners have been able to charm the update down by manually checking for it, but other still wait; in any case, it shouldn't be too long before everyone gets a chance.
While it's great to see this bug get corrected, another might have crept in. There are scattered reports of users who are unable to use their phones for tethering after installing 2.3.6. If these claims pan out, Google may elect to withdraw the update pending a resolution to the issue. If that's to be the case, we should hear something from the company shortly.
