                                   Keep your Symbian^3 devices ready.

Anna To Come In August

Nokia's loyal users must be happy with the announcement of the N9. Finally, they have something to brag about. Although the new flagship will run on MeeGo, the Symbian camp shouldn't lose heart as Nokia has once again shown its commitment to the struggling OS. Today at Nokia Connection, the company's CEO, Stephen Elop announced thatAnna (Symbian ^3 PR2.0) will come pre-installed on new devices starting from July. Nokia will start shipping its phones, including the N8, E7, C7, and C6-01 with the new Anna software update. However, existing owners of these devices will have to wait till August for the OTA (Over The Air) update.

The Anna update promises to bring touch-optimized icons, a portrait QWERTY keypad, and improved home screens. The browser will also undergo a major revamp, which was very much needed. It will now have an always visible Back
button, a better interface, and a search-integrated address bar.

The company is also planning to launch 10 new Symbian-based devices in the next 12 months. This hints at some serious upcoming competition in the mid-range smartphone market. It is true that Symbian is dying, but it's not going to roll over without a fight.
