SE Xperia X10 Demoed With Android 2.3

Sony Ericsson had announced in March that the Xperia X10 will be getting the Gingerbread update. This came as good news to all the distraught users who were disappointed when the company had initially indicated that such an update will not be provided. Now, the company has published a video demonstrating the new features that are coming with the update. Apparently, this update will be provided in August, so there is still some time left for that. Until then, why not treat ourselves to some classic Gingerbread action?

The new features include an improved user interface similar to that of the Xperia Arc and Neo, the ability to install apps onto the microSD card, Wi-Fi mobile hotspot which is seen in most devices, Facebook Inside Xperia (Sony Ericsson's revamped version of the Facebook application with improved support and better usability), and some cosmetic tweaks to the user interface.

It is a bit disappointing that handsets like the Xperia X8X10 Mini, and Mini Pro will be missing the not be provided with the Gingerbread update. The devices will be stuck with Android 2.1 Eclair because SE does not have any plans of upgrading the device further. But there isn't really anything that SE can do about this, because these devices aren't well-equipped in terms of hardware to be eligible for the update. However, the X10 users are lucky enough to get the update. Take a look at the video below for an idea as to what to expect from the update.
