Angry Birds Finally Comes To WP7

Angry Birds Finally Comes To WP7

The popular bird slinging game makes its way to the platform today.

The Windows Phone 7 platform has been plagued with lack of applications. In terms of sheer numbers, WP7 lags far behind platforms like SymbianApple, and Android. However, Microsoft wants to change that pretty soon. Popular applications are missing from the WP7 platform, causing concern with the users, and that can be considered as one of the reasons why people are shying away from the new platform. This is set to change now, with the Rovio launching the popular bird slinging game Angry Birds for the Windows Phone 7 platform. Most platforms already have the game, including even webOS. Therefore, it won't be wrong to say that this is long overdue.

Microsoft had promised to launch the application on June 29th (today) and has managed to live up to the promise as well. Sadly, the app will not be available for free. Nevertheless, you can try the app for a limited period, which will only give you a glimpse of the application. Most would agree that there isn't much to know or learn about Angry Birds, because most have already seen or at least played the game once. There have been a few copy-cats out there, taking advantage of Angry Birds' unavailability on the platform, but WP7 users will be happy with the original being launched. The app will cost US$ 2.99 (Rs 135) which might seem a bit unreasonable, and will come with 165 levels. In order to finish the game, a user must make his way through these levels.

WP7 handsets are slowly making their way into the market, especially in India. We're not sure if people would actually pay US$ 2.99 for the application considering the fact that if you were an Android or iOS user, you would get the app for free. We are keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that Rovio would launch a free version of the app for WP7 as well.
