BlackBerry Bold 9930, Samsung Galaxy Within And Epic 2 To Become Available Soon At Sprint

Although AT&T and Verizon steal all the spotlights, Sprint shouldn’t be ignored as the carrier was the first to offer 4G WiMAX speeds on a device through the HTC EVO 4G which became available last year. This summer it appears to be very busy for Sprint fans as the carrier has already released the HTC EVO 3D and the HTC EVO View 4G, but an inside source claims that everything is about to get hotter!
Sprint is preparing to launch at least five new smartphones by the end of the summer and the first will be the Samsung Epic 2. This smartphone will replace the current Samsung Epic 4G, a Galaxy S device and it will feature a single-core 1.2GHz Hummingbird CPU and a 4-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen at 800 x 480 resolution along with a 8MP camera capable of shooting 720p HD videos.
The Super AMOLED Plus and 1.2GHz CPU are already available through Verizon’s Droid Charge and AT&T’s Infuse 4G, but the screen size has been reduced in order to cut down the weight and make room for a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The source also mentioned a Samsung-made full-touch 4G smartphone so we can safely assume that he / she is talking about Sprint’s own Galaxy S II version. Allegedly, the name of the device will be Samsung Galaxy Within and it will have the same specs as the European-Asian counterpart, except for the addition of 4G WiMAX support.
Now that Sprint’s Android flagship smartphones have been uncovered, let’s turn our attention to a long-time partner of the carrier: RIM. Apparently, Sprint will offer the BlackBerry 9930 soon and it’s got CDMA chipset along with global roaming support.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 2.8-inch 640 x 360 touchscreen, 720MB ROM, built-in 8GB memory, microSD card slot of up to 32GB, 5MP camera on the back with 720p video capture, and BlackBerry OS 7 among others.
Sprint is also looking to add a PTT BlackBerry smartphone to its lineup along with two handsets from Kyocera and Sanyo, but the details regarding these devices are scarce. Everything should become official soon therefore we’ll be reporting live as it happens. Stay tuned!
