LATEST MICROSOFT 365 | LATEST UPDATE TO MICROSOFT | LATEST MS 365 | LATEST UPDATE TO TECHNOLOGY

Office 365 Is Ready For Business

And Google is feeling the heat.

Software giant Microsoft has shed the beta tag of its Office 365, which packs in the cloud version of popular apps and services including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync.  Redmond is boldly offering a guaranteed 99.9% uptime. The company also claims that users will be able to access their data from almost any internet-enabled device with the ActiveSync. Additionally, the software giant is reportedly building an ecosystem around Office 365, including systems integrators, software vendors, resellers, and other partners. These companies will then package Office 365 with their own services.

The product will come in two different packages, one targeted at small businesses and another for enterprises. The basic version of Office 365 will be for teams with almost no IT guys onboard, and who may not want any customizations. On the other hand, the enterprise version will offer advanced customization options. Small companies with fewer than 25 employees can can avail the service for $6 (approx Rs 300) per user per month, while the enterprise version will cost anywhere between $2 and $27 (approx Rs 1300) on the basis of selected services.

In response, Shan Sinha, Product Manager for Google Apps, posted an article named 365 reasons to consider Google Apps . However, the article just talks about four, which are Designed for Teams; Productive Anywhere; Simple & Affordable; and Pure & Proven Cloud. Out of these four reasons, the second and fourth are actually backed by the same points. Additionally, he mentions that Office 365 is about the desktop. Apps is about the web . Leaving us wondering if he has mistaken Office Suite for Office 365.

As you can see in the screenshots above, the author repeatedly ignores the fact that Office 365 works on all browsers, meaning that it is in fact accessible from devices running on any platform. Interestingly, he also adds the line ...it just works . This kind of reasoning is unexpected from Google. Really, why would a Google guy steal a line from Apple s ads?
